It Is Not Good for Man to Be Alone

“It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18)

Let me begin today’s reflection with a personal experience. Before I got married, I often thought how wonderful independence was. I could go wherever I wanted at any time. I did not have to adapt to anyone. I could manage my time and money exactly as I wished.

By God’s grace, I met my wife, and today we have two children. Now there is no amount of money or career that would be worth more than them. The moments spent together as a family, the joy of expecting and welcoming children, hearing their first words, seeing their first steps, their first bicycle rides — and I could continue the list for a long time — nothing in life can replace these experiences. We may educate ourselves, achieve any position, travel to the most diverse places in the world, yet none of these comes close to what a family means: a spouse who stands beside us in every situation and children who fill our lives with meaning. Nothing else can replace this. God created us to be helpers and companions to one another. Even the Hebrew names reflect this unity: ’ish means man, while ’ishshah means woman — showing that they belong together.

Recently I read that marriage is like an empty treasure chest. It is our task to fill it daily with treasures. I wish every dear reader to fill the treasure chest of their marriage with love, faithfulness, care, patience, smiles, and peace. May family be for all of us the most precious treasure and value that we have received from God as a gift and faithfully protect. Amen.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for my family. Please protect us under Your care, and let Your blessing be upon our lives every single day. Amen.
