"Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what He had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him." (Genesis 21:1–2)

Have you ever admired the night sky on a warm summer evening? Have you noticed how countless stars shine above you? Whenever you look at the stars, remember God's promise to Abraham. God told Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. Isn't that amazing? We cannot even count all the stars we see. That promise must have seemed impossible because Abraham and his wife were already very old and still had no children.
But God fulfilled His promise. Sarah gave birth to a son, whom they named Isaac. His name means "laughter" or "smile." His birth brought great joy to his parents. God has precious promises and wonderful gifts prepared for you as well. Perhaps you are waiting for the blessing of a child. Perhaps you are praying for success in your studies or your work. Or perhaps you are asking God to bless you with peace, strength, many small miracles, or healing. Abraham believed God and trusted His promises. Do you believe Him? Amen.

PRAYER: My caring God, thank You for preparing precious gifts for each one of us. So often You give us far more than we would ever dare to hope for. We ask You to hear the prayers of all those who are most in need of Your help. Amen.
